Centipede Extermination & Removal Services

Have you ever been sitting on your couch watching TV and see an insect with a hundred legs scurry across your floor at the speed of light? If you so then you may be dealing with a centipede infestation. The good news is that these insects can easily be eliminated from any home or business with proper expertise and tools. Any centipede exterminator will know that these horrific insects often hide in dark, cool, and damp areas. This is why people normally see them in basements or even closets. In terms of pest control and removal options, there is only one which will do the trick: a spray.

All centipede removal jobs are done by treating the home with a liquid spray which gets applied to baseboards and/or cracks and crevices. When wet, centipedes will be eliminated on contact. After it has been allowed to dry, centipedes will walk on the chemical and bring it back to their nest infecting all other living centipedes in the home. Depending on the size of the home, treatment time is anywhere between 20 to 45 minutes. Homeowners must stay out of the home for a minimum of 3 hours and once you return, it is completely safe for you and your pets! There is no odour or staining and your centipedes will be exterminated, guaranteed!

Centipedes are elongated and somewhat flattened predatory arthropods. The adult centipede is composed of 18-180 segments. Centipedes have a single pair of legs on each of their body segments. They range in size from very small (4 mm ~ 1/8”) to very large (150 mm ~ 6”). Larger centipedes can inflict a painful but non-venomous bite.

The first pair of legs is modified to form large, poisonous claws; the last pair, is less strongly modified and has a reproductive function and all the others are simply legs for walking. Centipedes can be easily distinguished from millipedes by counting the number of pairs of legs arising from most body segments, millipedes have two pairs. Centipedes are generally flattened and have a pair of well-developed antennae on the head. There are about 2500 species of centipedes known worldwide, mostly originating in the tropics.

About 70 species occur in Canada and Alaska; a dozen of these have been introduced from Europe. The latter species are largely eastern. Some tropical species are very large, one in particular reaches nearly 30 cm long. The largest Canadian species seldom reaches 8 cm; most familiar centipedes are less than 2.5 cm long. They are chiefly nocturnal, living under stones, bark, leaf-litter or in soil. Virtually all centipedes prey on smaller animals using their poisonous claws to capture them with. Some large species may inflict poisonous "bites" on humans if handled carelessly, but they usually only aggressive toward prey. There are only 2-3 species of centipede in Canada. The house centipede (Scutigeracoleoptrata), which can inflict a painful but not dangerous bite to humans. There is also the garden or "greenhouse centipede" (Scutigerellaimmaculata).
